Le WSJ est l’un des rares à être à contre courant, réussissant à améliorer symboliquement sa diffusion (plus 0,6% à 2,02 million). Le pari de Rupert Murdoch de le transformer en journal plus généraliste, concurrent du New York Times, parait avoir été plutôt bien accueilli.

Au total la diffusion de 379 quotidiens américains a diminué de 10,6%, passant de 34 millions en septembre 08 à 30,39 millions en septembre 09.
